Bobby's Best Weekly wine picks for week 4/17/05

Corrallio 2003 Chardonnay $9.99 (Chile)

This Chardonnay is characterized by its ripe fruit aromas, such as peaches and apricots, complemented by touch of vanilla. Soft on the palate with a round finish for very enjoyable drinking.

Pairing suggestions include shellfish, sea urchin, pasta, fish, and Asian food.

EIEIO 2002 Cuvee E Pinot Noir $22.99 (Oregon)

This pinot starts out with dusty cherries and raspberries floral notes and wafts of cassis liqueur. Taking the wine in results with a beautiful mouthful of flavors enveloping the palate including a nicely balanced texture. Then flavors emerge with a range from white peaches to blackberries all subtlety intertwined with no specific flavor sticking out. The finish is smooth yet with additional flavors of black cherries and cardamom. The balance of acid and tannin offers up a clean finish.

Pair with a ragu of lamb
